Colleges Make It Pay for Students to Take Unpaid Internships

Colleges Pay Unpaid Interns

Did you know that your school may offer grants for those students taking unpaid internships this summer?

While many colleges and universities have offered students internship grants for a long time, others have recently begun programs to address complaints from students who can’t afford to take unpaid internships in the summer. While there are still many schools that do offer academic credit to help compensate, this approach is not as popular at more competitive schools. Thanks to increased focus on enabling students at all socioeconomic levels to benefit from internships and the generosity of alumni donors, the number of colleges and universities now offering grants for unpaid internships is growing.

Application deadlines for this summer are coming up soon, so you need to hurry.

Here’s a partial list of schools offering students grants and links to get more information. If your school isn’t listed here, check their career website. And let me know so I can publish a more complete list.
